Combining Orthodontics and Ceramic Crowns to Transform Discolored, Misaligned Teeth

Patient Information
This patient presented with significantly discolored teeth, crowding, and a bite that was not properly aligned. Because the discoloration was intrinsic in nature, traditional whitening treatments were not a predictable option for improving the color of the teeth.
The patient also had tooth wear caused by misaligned teeth and an unstable bite, which created excessive frictional forces on certain teeth over time.
After a comprehensive evaluation of the patient’s face, smile, and bite, we determined that orthodontic treatment would first be necessary to properly align the teeth and create a stable foundation for the final restorations.
By completing orthodontic treatment first, we were able to position the teeth correctly and significantly minimize the amount of tooth preparation needed for the crowns. This allowed for a more conservative and biologically friendly approach to treatment.
Once the teeth were properly aligned, we completed a full mouth restoration using custom ceramic crowns to improve tooth shape, color, and bite stability.
The result is a brighter, more balanced smile and a stable bite that improves both function and aesthetics.
